Waxing may feel like a high-end salon project, but getting professional result at home is a lot easier than you might think.
New to waxing and want to add waxing to your daily beauty routine? Here are some fun tips to get you started
It’s pretty simple. Waxing gets to the root of unwanted hair problems – literally. Wax is spread over the hair and as it dries, it gets a good grip on the hair shaft. When the wax is quickly pulled away, the hair goes with it revealing smooth, luxurious skin. Easy right?Although waxing is pretty easy, you may have heard about the ouch factor associated with it. After all, it does involve pulling hair out by the root. While the waxing process may sound intense at first, there are several ways to reduce the discomfort, and the advantages of this method are huge.
- Hydrate. It may sound simple, but drinking plenty of water is key to all-around good health and grooming. It also helps prevent ingrown hairs when waxing.
- Make a fresh start. Exfoliate 24 hours before waxing to create ultra-smooth skin and prevent ingrown hairs.
- Get squeaky clean. Waxing works best on skin that is free of oils, lotion and sweat. So shortly before applying the wax, wash skin with soap and water and pat dry with a clean towel.
- Powder up. You can also apply a light dusting of powder so perspiration doesn’t interfere with the wax sticking to your skin properly.
- Shorten it up. Waxing is an effective hair removal solution, but before you wax, make sure hair is trimmed to no longer than a 1/2inch in length. This will make the process easier and reduce pain.
- Relax, you’ve got this. Take a deep breath and exhale slowly. Anxiety only multiplies and heightens discomfort. Who needs that? So set the mood – candles, breathing exercises, all of the above, none of the above, or something entirely different. Do whatever makes you feel best.
